Côte d’Ivoire Receives an International Excellence Award

The Republic of Côte d’Ivoire has been awarded the Award of Excellence 2025 International Prize as part of the RIEF Sustainable Finance Awards, an international distinction that recognizes the country's achievements in environmental and sustainable finance.

Granted on January 23, 2026, this award follows the landmark issuance of an ESG-labeled Samurai Bond on the Japanese market. The transaction amounted to JPY 50 billion, with a 10-year maturity and a 2.3% coupon rate. This operation marks a major milestone in the Government’s strategy to diversify its sources of financing and broaden its investor base.

The award recognizes Côte d’Ivoire’s efforts to integrate climate and environmental considerations into the core of its development financing strategies. It reflects the recognition by specialized international institutions of the country's commitment to promoting more responsible and forward-looking finance.

The distinction also serves as a strong signal of the strengthening strategic partnership between Côte d’Ivoire and Japan, illustrating the Government’s commitment to utilizing innovative financial instruments and reinforcing its credibility in international capital markets.
